The White Paper is published by the Fondazione Ugo Bordoni , Perconti of Forum TAL, with the intent to provide a useful means of consultation for those who want to use the technology of treatment
automatic language or want to promote projects in the field. This publication was produced with the assistance of all com-ponents of the Forum, in particular: the first chapter, "The Automatic Treatment of Language: definition and technology areas" was written by Nicoletta Calzolari and Andrea Paoloni,
the second chapter "The TAL Market", was prepared Paolo Coppo and Andrea Melegari, the third "The TAL in Italy" by Andrea Di Carlo based on questionnaires collected by the University of Tuscia and the Con-
Pisa Research Consortium and the next chapter "Interviews" provides interview-ste some experts nominated by members of the Forum and collected by Andrea Di Carlo and Andrea Paoloni, then the next two chapters are
also been drawn up by Andrea Di Carlo based on the data made avail-able from the questionnaires, the collection of organization of the same material has been edited by Sara Saverione.
